Description:
- Enforcement of all statutes, laws, ordinances, regulations, and procedures of the City and the Police Department.
- Maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, and performing related assignments.
- Maintaining knowledge of state traffic codes, criminal procedure codes, city ordinances, department orders, and departmental memoranda.
- Being courteous and helpful in interactions with the public and superior officers, while providing general assistance as required.
- Patrolling assigned areas to enforce laws, prevent and detect crimes, investigate criminal activity, maintain order, and respond to citizen complaints.
- Responding to radio-dispatched requests for police services at the scenes of accidents, domestic disputes, law violations, and disturbances of the peace.
- Investigating illegal or suspicious activities, persons, and establishments, and quelling disturbances.
- Locating, detaining, and arresting law violators in accordance with recognized police procedures, as well as guarding and transporting prisoners.
- Interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects, and gathering and preserving evidence.
- Investigating the causes and results of accidents, collecting and labeling evidence, and taking photographs and fingerprints.
- Providing traffic direction and traffic control at accident scenes and during weather-related incidents.
- Issuing written citations and warnings for traffic violations and violations of city ordinances.
- Writing detailed incident reports, criminal investigation reports, criminal activity reports, and other police reports.

Utility Worker

Description:
The Utility Worker perform duties essential in operating and maintaining the City’s water distribution and wastewater collection system, including completing water taps, repairing water and sewer leaks, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on water and sewer lines. There will be some meter reading and public contact. There is strenuous physical work outdoors and some after-hours/on-call work.
Requirements:
Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED equivalent, a valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, a “D” Water and Wastewater Certification, or ability to obtain one within one (1) year of employment, one (1) year experience in water or wastewater utility operations or construction (preferred), or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, ability to operate a backhoe, dump truck, and various handheld tools (preferred).
