Responsible for dispatching Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services. Receive and relay information to appropriate agencies by using: telephone, two way radio, CAD dispatch system, TDY, and computers. Other duties include maintaining knowledge of communication regulations and rules, entering information into federal, state and local databases, maintaining various logs, files, and official records. Employee must be available to work various shifts, including holidays and weekends. Prior dispatching and computer experience is preferred but not required.

REQUIRES High School Diploma or GED; Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task; Working knowledge of computers, dispatching equipment, and office practices and procedures.  Must have a High School Diploma or GED and a current, valid Texas drivers license.

Basic Telecommunicator and NCIC/TCIC certifications must be obtained within one year of hire date.

Street Laborer

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Category: Public Works/ Streets Department

Work in all construction and maintenance of streets and surface drainage systems. Perform sign maintenance and replacement. Check street lighting on a regular basis. On call rotation is required. Participation in field operations on a daily basis, and all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRES High School Diploma or GED; AND two (2) years of responsible experience performing street and surface drainage maintenance, repair and construction. Experience in a municipal or governmental setting preferred. MUST have valid Class B Texas Driver’s License with airbrake and driving record must meet or exceed guidelines set forth by the City. Commercial Driver’s License A (CDL with tanker endorsement) is preferred. MUST be able to operate various types of light and heavy equipment including backhoe, dump truck, iron wheel roller, maintainer and tractor. Knowledge of Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) is preferred.

Parks Laborer

Job Category: Parks & Recreation Department

Performs work related to the maintenance of City owned parks and properties. Cleans and maintains Bluebonnet Park, Kasting Park, Bewley Park, Amsler Park, Legacy Park, the McGregor cemetery and the McGregor Airport. Duties include mowing, weed eating, edging, trimming trees and shrubs, planting trees, shrubs and flowers, removal and disposal of any and all trash, repair and maintenance of City equipment used to complete these duties and repair and maintenance of playground equipment and installing playground equipment in a safe and professional manner. Installs, repairs, and maintains swimming pool equipment, athletic facilities, fences, restrooms, pavilions, ponds, and other equipment located in parks. Other duties include building maintenance duties such as painting and minor repairs.

Part Time Facility Maintenance

Job Type: Part-Time / Temporary October 2022 to February 2023

Job Category: Community Services Department/ Exchange Event Center

The Exchange Event Center is looking for someone who would be able to manage facility maintenance needs. This includes but is not limited to cleaning, room layout, minimal building repair, supply ordering and other duties as assigned. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Room Layout/ dealing with tables, chairs, stage and other rental items. 
  • Facility Clean up
  • Ensures safety hazards are corrected immediately.
  • Preforms other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  1. Graduation from high school or equivalent; and
  2. One (1) year experience in facility maintenance
  3. Any equivalent education or experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheetsoperating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  2. Ability to work with audio/visual equipment such as house lighting, sound control systems, amplifiers, projectors, etc.
  3. Ability to speak with and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, lessees, the public and other employees.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate instructions and policies.
  5. Ability to read and comprehend client diagrams and checklists
  6. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of day-to-day variables
  7. Ability to identify first aid and applicable precautions
  8. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  9. Ability to use Microsoft Office, MSWord and MS Excel
  10. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Special Requirements

  1. Must have a valid driver’s license by date of hire.
  2. Must obtain and maintain a Texas Driver’s License within 60 days of hire.
  3. Must be able to work nights and weekends, holidays and flexible hours driven by event scheduling.
