The Exchange Event Center is a 3.5 acre property with plans for three buildings (Main Hall, Cavitt Caufield Center, Jail House), and Open-Air Pavilion, and three parking lots. Currently complete is the Main Hall, Cavitt Caufield Center and Main Parking lot.

The McGregor Downtown Exchange LLC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to support and maintain a community event center for the citizens of McGregor. Through fundraising events, sponsorships, and community partnerships, the organization provides financial support for improvements and programs at the Exchange Event Center. Today, the McGregor Downtown Exchange continues its mission of enhancing the Exchange as a gathering place for community events, celebrations, and civic engagement.

Rental Fees for the Exchange Event Center

The Exchange is 15,000 sq ft. with variable lighting, and a flexible floor plan. This rustic, but elegant, event facility can accommodate up to 600 guests seated at round tables and 1200 theater seating or 1500 for a cocktail event. The Exchange is available for private rentals, corporate events, fundraisers, and numerous other event opportunities.

The Cavitt Caufield Center is 1,100 sq ft and accommodates 65 guests seated and up to 100 people for a cocktail event. The building features two restrooms, a refrigerator, a counter-top, and a patio. A 65″ tv and sound system are available for presentations.

Cassie J. Thomas serves as the Director of Community Services for the City of McGregor, overseeing Parks and Recreation (Facility Maintenance), the Exchange Event Center, Amsler Park Aquatic Center, the Senior Center, and City-sponsored events. She also works closely with local nonprofit organizations and community partners to enhance recreational opportunities and community engagement, with the goal of bolstering our local youth organizations.

Cassie joined the City of McGregor in January 2019 as the Exchange Event Center Manager. In that role, she oversaw groundbreaking to completion of the facility’s design, coordinated its opening, and established operational procedures that continue to support its success as a premier community venue. In 2022, she was promoted to Director of Community Services, expanding her leadership to include the planning, development, and management of the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, as well as a broad range of public services, facility operations, and community partnerships.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Retail Management and Marketing with an emphasis in Event Planning and Entrepreneurship from the Art Institute of Houston. Her background in event management, operations, and organizational leadership has helped foster the goal of collaboration between the City, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community partners.

Dedicated to public service, Cassie remains active in several civic and volunteer organizations and is committed to enhancing the quality of life for McGregor residents through exceptional public spaces, programs, and community events.

Gracie Saylors

Gracie Saylors serves as the Assistant Manager of the Exchange Event Center for the City of McGregor. She joined the City in November 2022 as the part-time Event Coordinator, where she assisted with facility scheduling and event planning while helping ensure the success of community and private events. In October 2025, Gracie was promoted to Assistant Manager. In her current role, she oversees facility scheduling, coordinates event planning, collaborates with nonprofit organizations, and manages the successful execution of events at the Exchange Event Center. She is committed to providing outstanding customer service and creating a welcoming environment for clients, guests, and the McGregor community.

Gracie and her husband, Chad, have proudly called McGregor home since 1998. Together they have four children, three of whom graduated from McGregor ISD. They also have nine grand children, three who currently attend McGregor ISD. Deeply rooted in the community, Gracie is passionate about serving the residents of McGregor and helping make the Exchange Event Center a welcoming place where people come together to celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories.
